Botox® is considered one of the most trusted and safest injectable cosmetic treatments on the market. Treating millions of people per year, Botox® can smooth out problematic wrinkles and reduce signs of aging. In the hands of one of our professionals at Laser Skin Care Center, Botox® can reverse the clock without that surprised or Hollywood look.

What is Botox®?

Botox® is a diluted neurotoxin created from botulism bacteria. Botox® disrupts the signals between the muscles and the nerves, reducing contractions that cause frown and smile lines. By quieting these muscles, the skin smooths out and becomes more relaxed.

As frightening as that sounds, it is completely safe. There are multiple medical applications, such as treating migraines and reducing neck spasms. In lighter dosages, Botox® is used by cosmetologists to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, including:

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Bunny lines
  • Upper lip lines
  • And more.

Botox® is also long-lasting. Treatments typically last three to four months and begin fading within the fifth month.

How Many Units of Botox® Do I Need?

The standard recommended units provided by Allergan, the manufacturer of Botox®, are four units per injection site. For individual treatments, your provider will determine the appropriate amount. Some practitioners inject between 10 and 30 units into the forehead. Male patients will need a higher dosage.

How Much Does Botox® Cost?

The cost for Botox® depends on the number of units and the skill level of your technician. Most people receive around 20 units for horizontal forehead lines and a similar number for around the eyes. The average cost for forehead injections is about $200 to $300, but the more injections you receive, the higher the price.

Is Botox® Safe?

Botox® is extremely safe. Millions of people have received injections since the 1980s with virtually no adverse reactions or side effects. The Laser Skin Care Center team understands the impact and components of Botox® thoroughly to allow for the safest and most effective results.

Am I a Good Candidate for Botox®?

Anyone who wants to smooth out mild to moderate wrinkles is a good candidate for Botox®. If you have had an adverse reaction to Dysport®, Xeomin®, or any other Botox® related injectable, you may not be a good candidate for Botox®. Good candidates also have realistic expectations for their final results as Botox® relaxes the muscles and does not change your facial structure or skin condition.
