Wearing earrings can lead to piercing holes that become larger over time, eventually causing your ear lobes to droop and making it difficult to wear earrings at all. Other people stretched their ear lobes deliberately but now wish to have normal-looking ones. Ear lobe repair can correct these issues to restore ear lobes so normal that you can even pierce them again.

Can Ear Lobe Repair Fix My Ears?

If you have sagging, stretched, or split ear lobes, this procedure can usually fix them with a quick in-office treatment. In many cases, these issues are addressed by using sutures to tighten the excess skin and restore a small, properly shaped ear lobe. Ear lobe repair is performed in our office using local anesthesia, making it easy to restore your ear lobes and start wearing earrings again.

How Much Does Ear Lobe Repair Cost?

Ear lobe repair can be performed in several ways, but the most common is a minor surgical procedure, also known as an earlobe reduction. The cost will vary depending on several factors, including:

  • Your provider’s skill and experience
  • The type of repair needed
  • The complexity of your procedure

The national  cost of ear lobe repair ranges from $600 to $1000. Your cost may be higher or lower depending on your needs. We recommend a consultation so we can determine the best way to treat your ears and how much you can expect it to cost.

The vast majority of people who have ear lobe surgery love their results and consider them more than worth it. You can have your natural ear lobes back with minimal downtime or discomfort.

How Does Ear Lobe Repair Work?

Ear lobe repair is performed in our office with an injection of local anesthetic to keep you comfortable. The loose skin will be lifted and tightened, then held in place with a few sutures. You are awake throughout and can leave immediately afterward.

Some people may not need a surgical repair to fix the appearance of their ears. Dermal fillers like Juvederm® and Radiesse® can be injected to plump thin, stretched ear lobes and restore a more normal appearance. This no-downtime procedure offers up to nine months of results.

Some people who have their ears pierced form large, overgrown scars called keloids. These can alter the appearance of your ear lobe and become large and heavy. Removing these abnormal scars is a challenging procedure that should only be performed by skilled, experienced providers.

What is Recovery Like After Ear lobe Repair?

Ear lobe repair uses only a few small sutures, which are removed after a week. There is no downtime required, although you will receive instructions on how to care for your ears until they heal. Dermal filler injections require no downtime. Both options are a fast, convenient way to fix a problem that has made you uncomfortable and affected your confidence.
