Laser Skin Care Center offers both dermal fillers and Botox® as injectable treatments to combat the signs of aging. Despite what you may believe, the two treatments are significantly different. The only similarities are that they’re injectable and can treat the signs of aging. However, the science behind each option – and the specific problems they address – are completely different.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable solutions typically made up of hyaluronic acid. This is a naturally occurring substance within the body, responsible for keeping your skin hydrated and plump. You can find many different brands of dermal fillers, including:

  • Juvederm®
  • Radiesse®
  • Sculptra®
  • Restylane®

We provide all of these fillers at Laser Skin Care Center, with each one having many uses throughout your face. Ultimately, regardless of which fillers you choose, they all seek to add volume and smoothness to your face. The solutions are injected under your skin, plumping up the area, which can cause wrinkles to appear less apparent.

What is Botox®?

On the contrary, Botox® is a neurotoxin that gets injected into the muscles of your face. Or, more specifically, Botox® is one of the many different brands of neurotoxins on the market. You can also get Dysport® and Xeomin® treatments, both of which work in the same way.

A neurotoxin is a toxin that affects the neurological pathways in the body. With Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®, the toxin in question is called botulinum toxin A. When injected into your face, it can disrupt signals between the muscle fibers and the brain. As a result, this prevents muscles from contracting, which can reduce wrinkles caused by repetitive facial expressions. Neurotoxins are particularly effective at treating forehead/frown lines and crow’s feet.

Can You Get These Injectable at the Same Time?

Yes, you absolutely can! Because they both work in different ways, there is no harm in combining dermal fillers and neurotoxins. In fact, the combination of these treatments are often referred to as a liquid facelift because it can add volume, tightness, and smoothness to your skin.

Benefits of Combination Injectable Treatments

By combining your injectable treatments, you will end up with better results. Botox® alone will not add volume to your face – it simply decreases and prevents wrinkles. So, adding a dermal filler into the mix can really give your face a lift. It’s a smart idea for anyone with multiple aesthetic issues that they want to treat. Plus, it enables you to see similar results to a traditional facelift, but without going through the painful surgery and recovery.

Am I a Candidate for Dermal Fillers and Botox®?

You’re a candidate for either or both of these injectable treatments if you need help combatting the telltale signs of aging. People with mild to severe wrinkles will benefit from neurotoxin treatment, while dermal fillers are ideal to tackle sunken cheeks, thin lips, as well as fine lines.

All of the neurotoxin and dermal filler injectable options at Laser Skin Care Center are FDA-approved, making them safe for the general population.
