If you have noticed the effects of collagen loss, you might look to dermal fillers to replenish this lost volume. Sculptra® is a unique dermal filler that works by using your body’s natural collagen to boost volume and smooth wrinkles. This versatile injectable has many uses and outlasts most other fillers.

What is Sculptra®?

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to restore lost facial volume and address fine lines and wrinkles. Sculptra® is a type of dermal filler that builds up volume using collagen produced by your skin. It can be used to address concerns such as:

  • Nasolabial folds and marionette lines
  • Hollow temples
  • Loss of cheek volume
  • Loss of jowl definition
  • Lines and wrinkles

Sculptra® can also be used in the buttocks to provide a non-surgical butt lift. You can achieve subtle but noticeable improvements that help you feel more confident.

How Does Sculptra® Work as a Dermal Filler?

Sculptra® uses an FDA-approved material called poly-L-lactic acid to improve collagen production. When injected into the skin, Sculptra® provides a scaffold that stimulates cells called fibroblasts to increase their collagen production. As these cells produce more collagen, it is added to your skin’s supportive framework, adding volume and firmness.

When Will I See Sculptra® Results?

Since Sculptra® does not add volume immediately, your results will take time to appear. You may start to see an increase in volume after a few weeks, but full results will appear after about three months. Most people will need two to three sessions to achieve their optimal results.

As new collagen is added to your skin, you will notice an increase in natural-looking fullness and smoothness. Because Sculptra® results look so natural and develop gradually, all anyone will notice is how refreshed and youthful you look. Your results can last two years or more, much longer than most commonly used filler types.

Sculptra® Consultations Available

Is There Any Downtime After Sculptra®?

You may notice some minor redness and swelling in the injection area that lasts a day or two. While no downtime is required, you should wear sun protection to keep UV rays from breaking down your developing collagen. Follow any instructions your injector gives you. If you have Sculptra® in your buttocks, you may experience a day or two of minor soreness in the area.

Am I a Good Candidate for Sculptra®?

Sculptra® uses an FDA-approved material that is safe for almost everyone. Good candidates for this treatment have reasonable expectations and want to restore lost volume, treat wrinkles, or enhance their buttocks.

You should not have Sculptra® if you have an active skin condition or infection in the treatment area, have certain medical conditions, or are pregnant. Only a consultation can determine whether Sculptra® is the right filler for your needs.
