Temporary hair removal options can be a pain – literally. That’s why many men and women are turning their backs on shaving, waxing, and plucking in lieu of something more long-term. If you’re ready to enjoy silky-smooth skin, it might be time to consider laser hair removal. But is it really permanent?

In the past, hair reduction with laser treatments was sketchy at best. Patients could expect a series of painful treatments that only produced semi-permanent results. At Laser Skin Care Center, we offer our patients a more permanent solution for hair-free skin. Our top-of-the-line laser is safe and effective for all skin tones and doesn’t require any downtime.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

We use one of the latest, most advanced lasers currently on the market. It’s called the Cynosure Elite MPX, and it is changing the way we think about hair removal. Using dual wavelengths, we’re able to produce superior outcomes for our patients. You’ll be able to see faster, longer-lasting results than single-wavelength treatments.

The laser targets pigmented follicles placing them in a state of dormancy. The process effectively stops new hair from growing while leaving surrounding tissue completely unharmed. Laser hair removal is only able to address hairs that are in their active growth phase making multiple sessions necessary to achieve an optimal outcome.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The number of sessions you’ll need depends on a variety of factors including the size of the treatment area, the color of your hair, and your skin tone. Typically hairs that are darker in color on lighter skin have the best results. However, thanks to our dual-wavelength treatments, we’re able to maximize the results for patients with dark or tanned skin.

In most cases, patients will need a series of 6-8 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart for the best possible outcome.

Will I Need Touch-Up Treatments?

Many men and women opt for maintenance treatments once or twice a year to prolong the effects of their initial series. Even if hair does return, its usually lighter, finer, and fewer in number. Some patients respond so well to laser hair removal that they never need to return for another session.

Your Laser Skin Care specialist will help determine if, and when, touch-up treatments may be a good idea. We’re committed to helping you achieve your long-term aesthetic goals with as little downtime as possible.
