Is There A Non-Surgical Solution to Remove Neck Fat?

Unwanted fat below the chin can make us appear years older and pounds heavier than we actually are. What’s worse, neck fat isn’t easily reduced with diet and exercise alone. And, when left untreated, neck fat typically becomes more prevalent with age. In the past, the only options for treating these isolated pockets of fat was through surgical means. Thankfully, these days we have a non-surgical alternative for treating under-chin fat. It’s called KYBELLA®, and it’s revolutionizing the way we think about fat reduction. At Laser Skin Care Center, we offer minimally-invasive KYBELLA® treatments for patients who don’t have the time for an extended recovery associated with surgery. How Does KYBELLA® Work? KYBELLA® is a minimally-invasive injectable that’s done in-office over the course of just a few minutes. Once the treatment area is determined, your KYBELLA® specialist will mark the area and apply a topical numbing agent to keep you comfortable throughout. Your doctor or PA will then place the injections at precise depths for an optimal outcome without complications. KYBELLA® uses a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid. The [...]

Is Kybella Only for Double Chins?

Kybella is an FDA-approved treatment to reduce submental fat. Though it was first introduced to reduce fat under the chin (also known as a double chin), it is also effective in other small areas of the body that experiences extra fat—such as the bra fat, abdomen fat, "banana roll" fat area below the butt/back of thighs, or residual fat after liposuction procedures. The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.  Kybella is administered through a series of injections; the total treatment time takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The number of injections you’ll need depends on the severity of the fat. Most patients won’t need more than six injections (each spaced one month apart) to see ideal results. Those with skin laxity may not be ideal candidates for Kybella treatments, as the injection does not contract or tighten the skin. It is a great treatment option for those with small fat deposits who do not [...]

How Long Will it Take My Double Chin to Go Away After Kybella?

Kybella® is an FDA approved treatment which reduction fat beneath the chin—also known as a double chin. Deoxycholic acid, the active ingredient in Kybella, is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath chin, also known as submental fullness, Kybella targets fat cells for removal. Most patients receive multiple treatment sessions—given at least 1 month apart. In clinical studies, 59% of patients received 6 treatments. Swelling can be significant for the first 48 hours after the procedure. The deoxycholic acid works over time and you should not expect to see results immediately. A month after the procedure, most people have definite reduction in fat tightening of the skin in the treated area.  This continues to improve over the next 3-5 months. Swelling tends to be milder with each subsequent treatment. *Individual results may vary* View Our Before and After Gallery     If you would like to find out more information about Kybella and how long it takes to see results, at our Long [...]

What is the Best Procedure for Removing Neck Fat and Defining the Jaw Line?

Have you noticed extra skin and fat under your chin or along your neck? According to the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, submental fullness, also known as a double chin, is an issue that affects nearly 68% of all Americans. You’re not alone! While double chins are common in conjunction with weight gain, they also affect people who are at their ideal weight. A well-defined jaw and slim neckline can shave years off your appearance and make you appear younger and slimmer. There are three great procedures that remove neck fat and define the jawline. Neck Liposuction Neck liposuction is good for those with excess fat, but not sagging skin. Most patients who benefit from liposuction are younger and have good skin elasticity. During a neck liposuction procedure, fat is removed through a small tube and suction. This procedure removes fat cells and sculpts and contours the neck. Kybella Kybella was approved by the FDA in 2015 and is the only non-surgical way to contour the chin. Kybella is injected into targeted fat areas behind the chin. It [...]

Kybella or Chin Lipo: Which Should I Choose?

It seems to be a tale as old as time: No matter how hard you work out or how clean you eat, the fat tissue underneath your chin refuses to bulge.  In fact, it’s making it tough for you to show off all your hard work, simply because that double chin makes you seem like you’re carrying excessive weight. Excess submental fat – otherwise known as a double chin – happens for a variety of reasons.  One of the most obvious is weight gain; however, some people are genetically prone to developing excess submental fat.  To make matters worse, this area can be notoriously difficult to treat, as facial fat is typically lost as a result of larger weight loss. For people struggling to lose their chin fat, there are two fantastic options available at Laser Skin Care Center in Long Beach, CA – Kybella and chin liposuction.  Both treatments have been shown to significantly reduce excess underchin fat.  Both can lead to permanent results with proper diet and exercise. But when it comes down to it, which treatment is [...]
