Is Kybella Only for Double Chins?

Kybella is an FDA-approved treatment to reduce submental fat. Though it was first introduced to reduce fat under the chin (also known as a double chin), it is also effective in other small areas of the body that experiences extra fat—such as the bra fat, abdomen fat, "banana roll" fat area below the butt/back of thighs, or residual fat after liposuction procedures.   Kybella® is an FDA approved treatment which reduction fat beneath the chin—also known as a double chin. Deoxycholic acid, the active ingredient in Kybella, is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath chin, also known as submental fullness, Kybella targets fat cells for removal. Most patients receive multiple treatment sessions—given at least 1 month apart. In clinical studies, 59% of patients received 6 treatments. Swelling can be significant for the first 48 hours after the procedure.
