Chemical peels are fantastic facial treatments used to remove the outer layers of skin on the face. The outer layers are the ones that suffer the most due to aging, sun damage, and other factors. The purpose of a chemical peel normally is to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, treat skin discoloration, scars & acne, and other skin issues.

What Are My Options?

The experts at Laser Skin Care Center know that everyone’s skin is different, and that’s why different peels to suit your individual needs are offered. There are three types of chemical skin peels; light, medium, and deep. The one that’s right for you depends on your skin type and the issues you want to treat. The best option for you will be discussed and decided on in your first consultation.

Light Peels

A light chemical peel is the most gentle out of the three, which means it can be done more frequently. Since it is a gentle treatment, your skin will be recovered in a week or two. You’ll be able to have a treatment every four-six weeks until you reach your desired outcome. A light peel involves the use of lactic, salicylic, and glycolic acids to smooth skin. A light peel is ideal for the treatment of mild scars, acne, and sun damage.

Medium Peels

A medium peel is used to treat skin issues such as mild acne scarring, wrinkles, sun damage, and uneven pigmentation. The treatment of these involves the application of trichloroacetic acid to the skin. As this option is a little harsher than a light peel, it is recommended to have this treatment every three to six months. Full recovery is said to take a few weeks.

Deep Peels

A deep peel is the least common of the three peels. It will only be recommended in the case of serious skin issues such as coarse wrinkles, pre-cancerous growths, scars, and severely sun-damaged skin. In a deep peel, phenol is applied to the skin. It’s the harshest of the treatments, which means it is normally only done once.

What’s Right for Me?

The experts at Laser Skin Care Center will determine the best route for you after considering your skin type, the issues you want to treat, and the desired results for your skin. While all the important factors will be considered, the goal will always be an optimal outcome with minimal recovery time. You can relax knowing you and your skin are in safe hands at Laser Skin Care Center.
