Is Cellfina™ Permanent?

Cellfina™ is the first FDA approved procedure for adults designed to improve the appearance of cellulite. This one-time, minimally invasive treatment works by targeting the structure of cellulite bands that appear in the thighs, flanks, and buttocks. The end result is smooth skin that lasts for at least two-three years and perhaps considerably longer based on long term follow up of the earliest studies. Studies showed that 93% of Cellfina patients were happy two years after their treatment. In 2016, it had been reported that even at 4 years, satisfaction ratings remained over 90%. Though the FDA cannot guarantee permanent results, most patients find that cellulite does not return if they maintain good exercise and diet habits. Our Cellfina Limited Warranty guarantees patient satisfaction for at least one year. If your results fade before the one-year mark or you are not happy with your results, we offer a free treatment. However, most patients never need a second Cellfina treatment. If, however, you develop more cellulite down the road, it’s possible to have more Cellfina [...]

Is Kybella Only for Double Chins?

Kybella is an FDA-approved treatment to reduce submental fat. Though it was first introduced to reduce fat under the chin (also known as a double chin), it is also effective in other small areas of the body that experiences extra fat—such as the bra fat, abdomen fat, "banana roll" fat area below the butt/back of thighs, or residual fat after liposuction procedures. The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.  Kybella is administered through a series of injections; the total treatment time takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The number of injections you’ll need depends on the severity of the fat. Most patients won’t need more than six injections (each spaced one month apart) to see ideal results. Those with skin laxity may not be ideal candidates for Kybella treatments, as the injection does not contract or tighten the skin. It is a great treatment option for those with small fat deposits who do not [...]

Will Laser Hair Removal Work on Dark Skin?

Shaving, waxing, plucking, hair creams, and other hair removal procedures can be a lot of work. But many darker skinned men and women have probably heard that laser hair removal won’t work for them. Laser hair removal can be more challenging for those with darker skin tones – the skin is pigmented and lasers can have trouble targeting the pigment in the hair. However, technology has advanced and many dark-skinned patients have found success with laser hair removal. The Cynosure Elite MPX addresses hair removal on all skin types, including dark skin, for permanent reduction of unwanted body hair. This laser targets and removes cells responsible for hair growth without harming the surrounding skin. Those with darker skin should ask questions of their laser hair removal provider. Darker skin is more prone to burns because it has more melanin. There are lasers available for those who have darker skin tones that detect the contrast between your skin color and hair pigment to remove the hair safely and effectively. If you [...]
